Two members from Child Life Disaster Relief (CLDR) deployed with our partner, Children’s Disaster Services (CDS), to work with children affected by Tropical Storm Imelda. Stephanie Michel-Siddall has been working alongside her CDS teammates in a shelter in Orange, TX since this past Sunday and Catie McDaniel will be joining tomorrow.
So far, there have been five confirmed deaths, devastating damage, and over 10,000 filed insurance claims for flooded vehicles. The traumatic effects of this storm are especially compounded due to so many of its survivors also being affected by Hurricane Harvey just a few years ago.
Please keep all the first responders and volunteers in your thoughts, as well as the thousands of people affected by yet another disastrous storm.
