We are grateful for Allene Osborne and Charity Vasquez, for deploying with the Children’s Disaster Services team to the southern California wildfires. Local child life specialist, Debi Hulitt has been a life saver, organizing efforts to provide the CDS team with much-needed supplies to meet the needs of the children and families.
In addition to this response, CDS also has a team in Philadelphia currently working with children and families evacuated from Puerto Rico after the ongoing effects of Hurricane Maria. This is a busy season for all of us and an especially difficult time for families who are displaced from their homes. We are so grateful for all those who are continuing to meet the needs of children and families struggling from the recent disasters. Thank you for recognizing the impact of these disasters on children and value of play in supporting their adjustment, healing, and creation of a new normal.
