About CARE Teams
We know that disasters start and end at a local level. Empowering, equipping and educating the communities that we live and work in will help them better support children as they turn tragedy into triumph.
Our CARE Teams began in 2019 with the goal of integrating Child Life Services into communities around the country with a clear focus on community disaster response and supporting children.
Each team is made up of 1-2 program manager volunteer(s). Our Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) program managers work with CCLS’s that are interested in becoming local responder volunteers within a 50-mile radius of the community. The program manager, with the support of the local responders, engages in community outreach and education on the unique needs of children impacted by disaster.
The CARE Team is also able to respond with community organizations virtually and in person when a disaster occurs.
How to Get Involved
The first step in joining a CARE Team is to fill out our “Join our Network” form. CLDR leadership strategically reviews all forms bi-annually. If you are interested in starting a CARE Team in your community, please fill out the form and indicate your desire to be a program manager.
