OVERVIEW

Overview: This presentation focuses on developing tools for regulating our nervous systems and becoming the external regulator for children and families during challenging moments (and emotional flooding – optional).

About Our Presenter: 

Lauren Rae Porter is a mixed race Mexican and Czech American, mother to a vivacious 4-year-old human and mischievous 11-year old cat, and wife to a wildly supportive husband. She is also a trained psychotherapist, yoga teacher and certified child life specialist with 20 years working in public and behavioral health in the areas of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse treatment, reproductive health, eating disorders, trauma, early childhood development and attachment, and pain management. In 2010, Lauren founded Lionhearted Kids, a non-profit organization that provided mindfulness-based psychosocial care and training for children, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers experiencing trauma in Cape Town, South Africa for 9 years. In all of her roles, she is an activist for social and human rights and a challenger of paradigms.
